Two families, one occasion: how Occasio began

It started in early 2023. Family members of the Carpios had just traveled home to New Jersey from a trip to their home country of Costa Rica, carrying a gift: beautiful green coffee beans from their family's coffee farm — and a commission to find a roastery to roast them and build a partnership with.

Saying yes

The Carpios brought the idea to the other side of the family, the Stotlers, and a question came up: what if we started a roastery of our own? About a month after that first conversation, Occasio Coffee was founded — and a shared passion for coffee was taken to a whole new level.

Why “Occasio”

Occasio means 'opportunity.' Sometimes all it takes is saying yes to one to change your life. Just as one occasio changed ours, we believe it can change yours too.
