Sunrise Blend: tracing the beans to Yirgacheffe
The Occasio Team · April 28, 2026 · 6 min read
The light, citrusy lift in our Sunrise Blend starts thousands of feet up, in the Gedeo highlands of southern Ethiopia. Here, coffee grows the way it has for centuries — in shaded 'garden' plots tended by smallholder families.
Washed and sun-dried
After picking, the cherries are pulped and fermented, then the beans are washed clean and dried slowly on raised beds. That washed process is what gives the coffee its clean, tea-like clarity rather than the heavier fruit of a natural process.
Why we blend it
On its own, Yirgacheffe can be almost too delicate for an everyday cup. We round it with a sweet Colombian base so it holds up in any brewer while keeping that signature floral brightness.
